What is the EU Digital Product Passport?

A Digital Product Passport is a digital record attached to each product containing sustainability, origin, and lifecycle data. It provides standardized, machine-readable information accessible by consumers, recyclers, and regulators.

DPP requirements depend on the product category. Battery passports have their own legal scope and dates; ESPR requirements are introduced through product-specific delegated acts.

Battery passports are required from 18 February 2027 for covered categories. Other DPP obligations depend on product-specific rules.

(EU) 2023/1542 · Art. 77 · ESPR · 2025–2030

What you can build with Hashentic.

Unique Product Identifier

Link item records to NFC, QR or GS1 identifiers. Select the carrier and identifier structure required by your product category.

Public data in JSON-LD

Expose public passport fields as JSON-LD with GS1, Schema.org and Hashentic vocabulary terms. Shared product-line data can be combined with item-specific values.

Consumer-Accessible Passport

Publish a branded page with the information you choose to share. Test accessibility and access rules against your category requirements.

Product records and history

Keep product updates and verification history connected to the record. Your team validates source evidence, reporting obligations and required retention.

Why early DPP adoption pays off.

Avoid last-minute scramble

Compliance infrastructure takes time to deploy across product lines and supply chains.

Consumer trust dividend

Clear product information helps customers understand origin, materials and care.

Grey market protection

Combine product information with secure tag checks and scan signals to support investigations.

One infrastructure

Reuse identifiers, product data and customer pages across passport and engagement projects.

Let's get your products ready for a passport pilot.

Our team will assess your product categories, timelines, and existing systems — and build a deployment plan that fits.
