Connect a certificate, card or contract copy to a record managed by its issuer. A reliable workflow distinguishes checking a tag from validating a document, a signature or the identity of the person presenting it.

Choose the NFC tag for your product

Define whether the scan should retrieve an issuer record or verify a configured secure tag. Neither purpose by itself validates a signature or the presenter’s identity.

NFC tag preference

Choose the verification method for your pilot. Metal placement and packaging still need separate testing.

NTAG215

Ordinary NFC for information access

A static NTAG215 link can open a public document-status page. Apply access controls to restricted contents; possession of a copied URL must not grant private document access.

NTAG424 DNA / EM4425

Secure NFC for tag verification

Configured NTAG424 DNA or EM4425 can add dynamic tag verification through a matching backend. Issuing, revocation, replacement and any legally required signature validation remain separate controlled processes.

Carrier design near metal

Metallic print, security foil or a metal-backed card may alter reading. Evaluate the finished construction and an appropriate carrier; a secure chip alone does not provide an on-metal antenna.

Packaging and operating limits

Test printing, lamination, folding and storage. Assess whether a label can be removed intact and transferred; the attachment determines how strongly the tag stays associated with the particular document.

From issue to status verification

  1. 01

    Issue a controlled record

Define the issuer, document version and attachment process before associating the carrier with the document record.

  2. 02

    Present a limited verification result

Demonstrate the tag or record check and the access rules for restricted contents; keep identity and signature checks separate.

  3. 03

    Test revocation and replacement

Agree authorised status changes, replacement history and the result shown when a revoked or damaged document is presented.

Attach a carrier to the right document

Evaluate an embedded inlay in a card or a suitable paper label. Test lamination, printing, folding and storage before choosing the construction. If the carrier can be removed intact, treat transplanting as a risk to manage rather than assuming the document is protected.

Maintain issuer-controlled status

Define the issuing organisation, document identifier, version and current status. Decide who may issue, revoke or replace a record and what a verifier sees after revocation. A replacement process should preserve an understandable history instead of creating competing valid copies.

Protect sensitive information

Separate a public status check from private document contents. Plan authentication, permissions and logs for any restricted view or download. Do not put sensitive personal information directly into an NFC URL or assume that possession of a tag grants access.

Test verification boundaries

Use a correctly configured secure chip if dynamic cryptographic tag verification is required; a static link is a record lookup. Test valid, revoked, expired where applicable and damaged samples with the intended verifier.

An NFC result is not a qualified electronic signature, an identity check or independent proof of the truth of the document. Assess signature and legal requirements separately, and tell the verifier exactly which issuer record and status were checked.

NFC pilot for documents and certificates

Describe your product, packaging material, intended scan or verification result, target market and expected pilot scope. The team can then assess placement, data and integration requirements.
