Use supported secure chips such as NTAG424 DNA or EM4425. Verification checks cryptographic data; a static NFC link or ordinary QR code alone does not provide the same evidence.

How a product authentication pilot works

  1. Select and attach

    Choose the chip, label and attachment for your product. Test bottles, cosmetic packaging, apparel or accessories in their actual materials and handling conditions.

  2. Connect and verify

    Associate the tag with a product record, configure the customer page and test valid, repeated and damaged-tag scenarios with representative phones.

  3. Review and integrate

    Agree verification criteria and support procedures. Connect the required records and events to your systems through APIs or configured workflows.

Plan the whole authentication system

A valid tag is one piece of evidence. Its attachment, production controls and handling after opening or resale determine how well it stays linked to the physical product.

  • Define what customers see for a valid, reused or unreadable tag.
  • Test label removal, transfer, wear and packaging interference.
  • Separate platform, tags, encoding, integration and support in the quote.

Questions before you start

Do customers need to install an app?

The customer page opens in a mobile browser after a tap on a compatible NFC phone. Internet access and the chosen phone and tag configuration must be tested during the pilot.

Can any NFC tag prevent counterfeiting?

No. NTAG215 can provide access to product information, but does not provide the same cryptographic authentication as the supported secure chips. Even a secure tag needs an appropriate physical attachment and key-management process.

How does this compare with secure QR authentication?

Ordinary QR links and secure QR systems are different. Some suppliers use a printed copy-detection graphic. Compare printing or tag costs, verification steps and performance on your packaging using the same pilot criteria.
