Connect electronics or accessories to a product identity and service record. Deployment must account for conductive materials, replaceable parts and the difference between a genuine tag and a functioning device.

Choose the NFC tag for your product

Plan the device, packaging and service identity together. Select information access or secure tag evidence according to the use case, then validate the carrier on the final enclosure.

NFC tag preference

Choose the verification method for your pilot. Metal placement and packaging still need separate testing.

NTAG215

Ordinary NFC for information access

NTAG215 can open setup, warranty and service information. Its static link can be copied; locating a registered serial does not establish device condition or the originality of internal components.

NTAG424 DNA / EM4425

Secure NFC for tag verification

Configured NTAG424 DNA or EM4425 with matching backend verification can provide dynamic tag checks. Returns still need order evidence, inspection and the relevant policy rather than automatic approval from a scan.

Carrier design near metal

Conductive enclosures, shielding and nearby components can affect the antenna. Evaluate approved placement or a suitable on-metal carrier; security capability and on-metal reading are separate requirements.

Packaging and operating limits

Test the final enclosure, box, handling and authorised repair scenarios. Avoid covering safety marks or affecting cooling and components; define record corrections for legitimate board, housing or carrier replacement.

From serial association to warranty and repair

  1. 01

    Associate the device serial

Test approved enclosure placement and reconcile the carrier with the device, accessory and packaging identifiers.

  2. 02

    Plan sale and warranty records

Agree which system maintains warranty data and how authorised staff associate sale events or correct record errors.

  3. 03

    Test a repair or return

Demonstrate tag evidence alongside order data and inspection, including legitimate component replacement and serial mismatches.

Select a serviceable tag location

Evaluate a manufacturer-approved label location, non-metal panel or suitable on-metal construction. Test the final enclosure and packaging with the intended phones. Avoid covering safety marks or placing an inlay where it interferes with components, heat management or authorised repair.

Reconcile serials across systems

Define the relationship between device serial, model, accessories and packaging identifiers. Decide which system controls warranty and service history and how sales or repair events are associated. Account for legitimate board, housing or packaging replacements without silently losing the identity trail.

Make verification useful for returns

Dynamic verification from a configured secure chip is an input to a returns process. Combine it with order information, inspection and applicable policy. A successful check does not establish device condition, original internal components, ownership or entitlement to a refund.

Pilot failures as well as successful scans

Test one enclosure and label construction through receipt, sale, repair and return. Include serial mismatches, damaged carriers and a replacement component. Set read-success criteria and human escalation for uncertain results; assess connectivity and integration needs before making service promises.

NFC pilot for electronics and accessories

Describe your product, packaging material, intended scan or verification result, target market and expected pilot scope. The team can then assess placement, data and integration requirements.
