Provide a clear route to brand-approved batch, expiry and preparation information. For baby and child food, the digital journey must support the existing packaging and food-safety controls.

Choose the NFC tag for your product

Select the label to support approved preparation information or dynamic tag checks without interfering with the closure. Packaging integrity and food safety require independent controls.

NFC tag preference

Choose the verification method for your pilot. Metal placement and packaging still need separate testing.

Will the tag sit on or close to metal?

NTAG215

Ordinary NFC for information access

NTAG215 can open brand-approved batch, expiry, preparation and storage information. Its static link can be copied and does not certify nutritional suitability or the safety of the contents.

NTAG424 DNA / EM4425

Secure NFC for tag verification

Configured NTAG424 DNA or EM4425 with backend verification can add dynamic tag evidence. A valid response does not show that a lid is intact or that processing and storage were safe.

Carrier design near metal

Metal lids, foil seals and nearby metallic layers can affect NFC. Evaluate placement or a suitable on-metal carrier with the packaging team, independently of the secure-chip choice.

Packaging and operating limits

Test filled and processed packs, closure function, storage and opening. Do not cover essential instructions; assess any seal change separately and keep accurate batch records for questions and recall procedures.

From the packed batch to clear preparation guidance

  1. 01

    Test the completed closure

Validate the label on the filled and processed pack, then define accurate product and batch association.

  2. 02

    Present approved preparation information

Demonstrate accessible expiry, preparation and storage content; a scan does not establish food safety or seal integrity.

  3. 03

    Rehearse customer support and recall

Agree how questions reach the responsible team and how corrected content or a batch recall notice is approved.

Test the lid, seal and final pack

Evaluate a lid label, safety seal or another packaging-approved location. Metal lids, foil and product fill can influence NFC performance. Validate the completed pack after filling and processing; an added label must not interfere with closure function or mandatory information.

Keep instructions accurate and accessible

Associate each item or batch with the correct product, age-related instructions where applicable, preparation guidance and storage information. Define an approval process for content and translations. Essential product information should remain accessible without requiring a marketing form.

Separate tag results from food safety

A static NFC link opens information and can be copied. A configured secure chip can add tag authentication, but neither method establishes nutritional suitability, microbiological safety or an intact seal.

Expiry and recall information depend on accurate records and operational follow-through. Parents and carers should follow the product label and the appropriate professional guidance; a scan should not override those instructions.

Pilot with production and support

Choose one packaging format and test reading, line application, record association and expected storage conditions. Include opened lids, damaged labels, corrected content and a recall scenario. Define how customer questions reach the responsible team without making unsupported safety assurances.

NFC pilot for baby and child food packaging

Describe your product, packaging material, intended scan or verification result, target market and expected pilot scope. The team can then assess placement, data and integration requirements.
